The boy is Finbar Black, a sardonic fifteen-year old who is spending a boring Saturday afternoon with his Dad, Grandad and Grag. The girl is Alice, who disrupts the Black family's apathy by bursting into their front room and holding them all at gunpoint, sparking off a tense siege in which each character tries to get the better of the other.
